Data Services for Marine Science
Data services where scientists can deliver data for processing and services where that data can be made accessible play key roles in not only the data journey but also making it available to the research community and even the general public. Providing this service allows the vital research on our ocean to reach it's intended targets and also deliver real outcomes and results.
Through the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC), over 130,000 unique data sets are made available to scientists and researchers around the world, while NOC's tide prediction software supplies real-time information on tidal conditions and is used by coastal communities and businesses around the UK and further ashore.
NOC's Digital Science and Data Mission
NOC is a global leader in ocean understanding and has committed to making sense of the seas through its digital expertise, sharing intelligence with others on how the ocean moves and changes. Through this information, we can understand our oceans and the vital life-supporting services they provide, and how that will be affected by climate change.
