Dr Michela De Dominicis
Biography
Dr. Michela De Dominicis is a Senior Scientist in the NOC’s Coastal Ocean Group.
She is a physical oceanographer with a 20-year expertise in marine numerical modelling.
Her work explores the connections between people and the sea: from climate change and coastal resilience to the future of offshore renewable energy. Using computer simulations, she creates ‘what-if’ scenarios of how coasts and ocean might change in the coming decades, helping to understand the impacts of extreme weather and rising seas, as well as the influence of large-scale offshore renewable energy developments on our seas.
She leads and manages a portfolio of projects, current roles are WP Leader CHAMFER (NERC NC LTSM2, 2022-2027), PI SEPA grant (2024-2026), NOC PI PELAgIO (NERC ECOWind, 2022-2026), NOC Lead ACCE+ DLA (Doctoral Landscape Award, 2024-2033).
